Monday 8.15am - 12.30pm

Wednesday 8.15am - 3.30pm

Thursday 8.15am - 3.30pm

Friday 8.15am - 12.30pm

Pay: Hourly rate to be confirmed

Holiday Pay: The statutory yearly entitlement is 5.6 weeks of your usual working week based on your normal working hours

Main Duties

A full job description is available from the Playschool Managers Mrs Dawn Webster and Mrs Stephanie Gorstige.

The main duties include:-

To work as part of a team to create an environment which promotes children's development and learning.

To help set up the different activity areas and assist in moving and storing equipment at the beginning and end of Playschool's week.

To act as Keyperson for a group of children, to observe, assess and plan for their individual needs and to be responsible for maintaining records of those children.

To comply with Playschool policies and procedures and our commitment to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.


Essential Requirements

To have a GCSE or equivalent qualification in Maths and English

Willingness to learn and a commitment to obtaining a level 3 childcare qualification within 12 months of commencing employment at Wigton Moor Playschool

Previous experience with young children preferable

Knowledge of child protection procedures

Understanding of play based approach to children's learning and development

Able to work effectively as part of a team

Good communication skills

Commitment to equal opportunities

Ability to be flexible at work and work extra sessions, to cover staff absences as required, attend staff meetings, staff training which could be held in the evenings or at the weekend.

Desirable Criteria

Level 3 early years and childcare qualification;

Willingness to undertake further training.

An enhanced (DBS) Disclosure and Barring Service check is required for this role.
